The Bend in the River

The Bend in the River

Every time I see this painting I remember that my friend Jenae and I went to this same spot 3 different times, trying to get it right. It is a fishing area located between Midway, Utah and Heber City Utah. There was so much detail. I wrestled with this painting to get it how I wanted it. After a time, we invited a couple of art professors to come out with us to this same spot. Do you know what they did? They didn’t even attempt to do all of that detail. They chose a simple composition, like a bush with flowers, and went with it. Sometimes simplicity is the way to go, unless of course you want to wrestle with something until you get it right. Both ways can be valid.
