SUMMARY:WATERCOLOR CLASS #1, SECTION B: BASICS/PAINT LAKE COEUR D’ALENE
DESCRIPTION:This is a 90-minute online watercolor class where we do a painting together from a photograph that I took at Mica Bay, Lake Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. You will learn the following things and more:\nDate: March 19, 2021, 3:30 pm Mountain Time (2:30 pm Pacific Time)\n• 12+ Watercolor painting techniques\n• Best supplies to use\n• Some basic drawing and composition\n• How to show your art (framing and matting ideas)\nSupplies Needed:\nNote: Some supplies can be expensive. Below are some options to consider, depending on your budget.\nOption 1: Buy a kit from me. I’ll have 2 or 3 available. Kit includes 5 sheets of Watercolor Paper, Daniel Smith Tube Colors (6): French Ultramarine Blue, Pthalo Blue, Quinacridone Rose, Pyrrol Scarlet, New Gamboge Yellow, Hansa Yellow Light, 3 Brushes (3/4” Shader, #3 Round, #1 or #0 Liner.), some artist tape, and a small palette. Cost: $52, incl. Shipping. There are additional supplies needed. See list below.\nOption 2: Use what you have already or buy what you need. I have seen some of these supplies at Walmart, Amazon, Michael’s, Blick, or Jerry’s Artarama.\nSupplies Needed:\nWatercolor Paints: You may use tube or pan colors. (Suggested Colors are a warm and a cool of each of the Primary Colors: French Ultramarine Blue, Pthalo Blue (Substitute Cerulean Blue), Quinacridone Rose (Substitute Naphthol Red, or Alizarine Crimson, or Rose Madder), Pyrrol Scarlet (Substitute Vermilion, Red-Orange), New Gamboge Yellow (Substitute Cadmium Yellow Deep or Aureolin Yellow), Hansa Yellow Light (Substitute Lemon Yellow or Cadmium Yellow Light—a light, cool yellow). Or if you just have a red, yellow and a blue, we can work with that. The Daniel Smith colors are a little more expensive, but they are also condensed and a little goes a long ways. If you want something that’s pretty good but a little less expensive, Daley-Rowney, sold by Walmart. It’s good for the money. They have a 12-tube set and a 24-tube set. Other brands: Winsor & Newton Cotman and Sargent.\nPalette: Plastic Palette, or you may use a plastic or paper plate, or wax paper, etc.\nPaint Brushes: Recommended—(1) large soft brush, (1) 3/4” Shader Brush, (1) #3 Round Brush, and (1) #1 or #0 Liner Brush, or use what you already have.\nPaper: Recommended—Canson 9” x 12” 140# paper, or Arches Watercolor paper\nMDF, Masonite or Coroplast Board, Size: 11” x 14” or larger\nWhite Artist Tape or Drafting Tape\nPencil and eraser\nContainers for water (at least 2)\nWatercolor Masking Fluid (Optional)\nPaper Towels: I prefer Viva because they are soft, but you can get any other brand.\n
